Through His Eyes

Picture

Kim is in her early twenties when she begins to suffer the ‘absences’. She is told by doctors she has epilepsy but she isn't confident the diagnosis is entirely correct.

There are times she sees things through the eyes of another, a man she doesn’t know. Things that appal and terrify her. And when it emerges that she is closer to this man than she realises, it is only a matter of time before their lives collide and she ends up at his mercy.

Nobody knows where she is. Time is running out. She has to find a way to save herself.

Becca

Laura has carried her baby for almost seven months before she loses her. The tragedy prompts different responses from Laura and her husband Adam. He is willing to move on and try again but she feels somehow that their daughter, Rebecca, still exists and must not simply be replaced.

Over time, it becomes clear to Laura that Becca does still exist, and it is not long before Laura is sharing her most intimate thoughts with the woman she believes her daughter would have become.

Laura’s marriage to Adam collapses, and when Adam remarries, Laura is consumed by regret and jealousy. And when she hears of his new wife’s pregnancy, it is more than she can bear. She and Becca are convinced she must act.

The Angel Monument

Picture

Historical (19th Century), Supernatural,  Novel.

A ruined chapel in the grounds of a prosperous manor house must have a story to tell.

It is 1824 and Emily and Laura, the two young daughters of Sir John and Lady Oxborough, are pleased to meet a new gentleman in the neighbourhood. He is handsome, charming and attentive. Soon even their mother and their maid are in thrall to him. But what defines a gentleman?

As Emily’s life falls in ruins around her, everything closes in on the chapel.

The story was inspired by a real place, Eggleston Gardens, in Teesdale. I saw the monument in a ruined chapel in the grounds. It had no inscription or explanation and I began to write, to provide one.
