A collaboration between me and my friend Jonathan Hill, 'Is it Her' is a pair of novellas based upon the picture you see here. It's by artist Rod Buckingham who has given his permission for us to use it as a cover. Jonathan bought the picture for his new flat, sent me a link and I said I love it because it looks as though it tells a story. Unable to resist a challenge, we began to write.
They are very different in style and theme but because of the look of the picture, they are both set in the second world war. Although I was born after the war, my parents were involved and I was able to draw on little stories told to me by my late father. He was a toolmaker and was in a reserved occupation so, like one of the characters here, he wasn't called up. It's still history to me, but so close I can almost touch it.
Watch out for it and we hope you enjoy it.
